March date for Nations League draw

Following an adjustment to the competition format, Uefa have unveiled the four leagues for the 2020-21 Nations League, with the groups in each league to be decided by a draw on 3 March 2020 in Amsterdam.

The new league structure comprises 16 teams in Leagues A, B and C and seven teams in League D, with teams allocated to leagues based on the overall ranking following the 2018-19 competition.

League A will be made up of holders Portugal, plus the Netherlands, England, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Poland, Germany and Iceland.

At the draw in March the teams will be split into four groups of four, with the group winners then contesting the Nations League Finals (semi-finals, match for third place and final) in June 2021.

Teams who finish bottom of their groups will be relegated to League B, where Wales join Russia, Austria, Czech Republic, Scotland, Norway, Serbia, Finland, Slovakia, Turkey, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Israel, Hungary, and Romania for the 2020-21 tournament.

Again teams will be divided into four groups of four, with the group winners gaining promotion and the sides finishing bottom of their groups being relegated to League C.

Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Georgia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Belarus, Cyprus, Estonia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Moldova make up League C.

Once again the group winners will gain promotion, but only two League C teams will be relegated for the third edition of the competition in 2022-23.

Those two teams will be determined by home and away play-offs, to be contested by the four fourth-ranked teams from each  group.

League D will be split into one group of four and one group of three, with Gibraltar, Faroe Islands, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Malta and San Marino making up the competitors.
