Welsh Cup

Prestatyn Town’s reward for last night’s Welsh Cup win against fellow Cymru North high-flyers Flint Town United is a semi-final against reigning champions The New Saints.

The Seasiders secured a 1-0 victory away at Cae-y-Castell thanks to Jack Kenny’s goal after the quarter-final had been postponed last Friday due to the weather.

Neil Gibson’s side, who are 16 points ahead of second-placed Flint in the Cymru North, will appear in the semi-finals for the first time since 2013, when they won the competition for the only time in their history beating Bangor City in the final.

Semi-final matches in the JD Welsh Cup are played at a neutral venue and the match will go ahead over the weekend of 4-5 April, when Caernarfon Town and Cardiff Met University will also meet in the other semi-final.
