Saints still favourites to claim league title

Cymru Premier

Following last Friday night’s 1-0 defeat against title rivals Connah’s Quay at Deeside Stadium, The New Saints are still odds-on favourites to win the Cymru Premier crown for a ninth successive season.

With just seven games remaining the Saints are four points adrift of the Nomads, who will take the title from TNS if they can win six of their remaining games. But despite that fact Bet365 are quoting the Saints at 1-2 to lift the title, with Connah’s Quay attractively priced at 13-8. Outsiders for the trophy Bala Town are quoted at 16-1.

The Nomads have to travel to Park Hall on 10 April for what appears to be a must-win clash for TNS, who would still need their rivals to slip up elsewhere to have any chance of retaining their crown.

Connah’s Quay have yet to convince the bookies of their title-winning pedigree, but they won’t be at 13-8 for long if Bala fail to put an end to their three-game winning streak when league action resumes at Maes Tegid on 6 March.

But if the Lakesiders can take all three points they would be right back in the mix as well, having further away fixtures against both the Saints and Nomads later in the campaign. At 16-1 they could also be an interesting wager.
