Cymru Premier cleared to resume next month

Cymru Premier

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has confirmed the Cymru Premier has been granted “elite athletic status” by the Welsh Government, allowing the 2020-21 season to get underway next month.

The FAW has confirmed the season will now start on 11 September, with matches initially taking place without spectators due to the Covid19 crisis.

There are currently no plans from the Welsh Government to change the guidelines for leagues without elite athlete status, so all clubs below the Cymru Premier are currently prohibited from competitive football.

The FAW will continue to work with the Welsh Government, Sport Wales and the Welsh Sports Association to review this status.

All 12 Cymru Premier clubs have recently undergone site visits with FAW representatives and the broadcaster, S4C, to ensure all stadiums are compliant with social-distancing measures.
