Icons: Timmy Edwards

A rock-solid presence in TNS’ 1999-00 championship-winning team, Timmy Edwards was voted supporters’ and players’ player of the year as he captained the Saints to their first Welsh Premier title.

He spent four seasons with TNS, after signing from Rhyl in the summer of 1998, and scored six goals in 105 league appearances before returning to Belle Vue in 2002 after the Saints became a professional outfit.

Edwards captained Rhyl to four trophies in 2003-04 as they won the league, Welsh Cup, League Cup and FAW Premier Cup. The no-nonsense skipper was ever-present in the league campaign with 10 goals from his 32 appearances.

The Wrexham-born colossus had netted 36 goals from central defence in 373 Welsh Premier appearances when he was released by the Lilywhites in November 2006 at the age of 34.

But Edwards was quickly snapped-up by Cefn Druids and went on to make his 400th Welsh Premier appearance in October 2007, before moving to Welshpool the following summer.

A model of consistency, Edwards began his career with Rhyl in the 1994-05 season before moving to Bangor City and then back to Belle Vue in 1996-97. The gentle giant finished his career at Welshpool in 2010, after 16 seasons in the Welsh Premier, where he also had a spell with Newtown.
